Though the i.Beat organix FM is primarily designed for music, the unit also functions as a mobile storage device, with the ability to hold text files, small photos, and other data. Listeners will also dig the integrated voice recorder, which lets them record voice notes, lectures, and interviews in MP3 format for later use. The unit even offers a line-in jack for recording from an external source, such as a CD player or cassette deck. And should the music playback get a little tired by itself, you can turn on one of the dynamic visualization effects, which pulse to the beat of the music. As a bonus, the i.Beat organix FM offers a built-in FM tuner, which receives all your favorite FM stations while recording specific songs or programs. The tuner comes with 15 station presets and an automatic station search function for quick channel switching.
Other details include SRS WOW surround sound effects; 11 predefined equalizer settings (auto EQ, user-defined, dance, eXtreme bass, jazz, classical, live, normal, pop, reggae, rock, SRS, and techno); settable play speeds; support for ID3 tagging; a text viewer that displays TXT files; a digital clock with an alarm, stopwatch, and sleep timer; a pair of headphone jacks to accommodate two listeners at once; and a high-speed USB 2.0 interface.
The i.Beat organix FM--which comes with a set of Sennheiser headphones and a copy of Magix MP3 Maker SE music administration software--is compatible with Windows 98 SE, M3, 2000, and XP, Mac OS X 10.3.x, and Linux Kernel 2.4.x operating systems. The powerful lithium-polymer battery, meanwhile, charges via the USB connection and runs for roughly 25 hours per charge. The entire unit is backed by a one-year warranty.

My favorite colors are in the red "family" and the color black, and this player looked sharp, "cute" and simple. If only it performed as well.
At first it could not detect my computer (I have Windows Vista), so I feared compatibility issues, even though the box indicated it was Vista-ready. Once it finally recognized my laptop, I had to try and learn how to program the thing. Although this was my first mp3 player, I didn't expect it to be that hard to use. But I think the problem was simply that the player is defintitely not user-friendly. I can't tell you how many times I had to revert to the manual to do just about anything. I am not a stupid person by any means; I just found that the player is not very intuitive. You basically have two different buttons to navigate with ("menu" and "mode"), but where you go depends on how LONG you press each button.
