Though the i.Beat classico FM is primarily designed for music, the unit also functions as a mobile storage device, with the ability to hold text files, small photos, and other data. Listeners will also dig the integrated voice recorder, which lets them record voice notes, lectures, and interviews in MP3 format for later use. The unit even offers a line-in jack for recording from an external source, such as a CD player or cassette deck. And should the music playback get a little tired by itself, you can turn on one of the dynamic visualization effects, which pulse to the beat of the music. As a bonus, the i.Beat classico FM offers a built-in FM tuner, which receives all your favorite FM stations while recording specific songs or programs. The tuner comes with 20 station presets and an automatic station search function for quick channel switching.
Other details include eight predefined equalizer settings (3D stereo, bass, jazz, classical, live, normal, pop, and rock); a user-defined equalizer for a more individualized sound; an automatic shutoff function with a sleep timer; settable play speeds; support for ID3 tagging; a pair of headphone jacks to accommodate two listeners at once; and a high- speed USB 2.0 interface.
The i.Beat classico FM--which comes with a set of Sennheiser headphones and a copy of Magix MP3 Maker SE music administration software--is compatible with Windows 98 SE, M3, 2000, and XP, Mac OS X 10.3.x, and Linux Kernel 2.4.x operating systems. The powerful lithium-polymer battery, meanwhile, charges via the USB connection and runs for roughly 15 hours per charge. The entire unit is backed by a one-year warranty.

However, your audio source better be LOUD because the input for recording on the classico does not seem to be very sensitive...
The FM recording, on the other hand, is pretty awful. I have a hard time getting a good signal to begin with. When I do get a decent signal, if I press record, the static increases. Wierd. The microphone recording works extremely well. I have randomly had very static recordings that were definitely introduced by the player somehow. But that didn't happen often. Mp3 playback is decent, but riddled with infrequent problems like random static (solved by skipping away from the song, and then skipping back to it). There's a loud *thud* when you turn...Read more |
