Form and FunctionThe speaker dock looks great, with a rounded, piano-black wooden finish. It features a Bass relfex enclosure design to extend bass response despite its low profile.
Room-Filling SoundThe SRS-NWGU50 pumps out a healthy 20 watts (10W + 10W) through two 57mm full-range speakers.
A bass boost function lets you pump up the low-end, and magnetic shielding helps prevent interference from other electrical components.

After a few years of building speaker systems for just about every one else in the MP3 player market, the folks at Sony finally get down to business and deliver on a good, compatible product for their loyal Walkman buyers. The arrival of the Sony Walkman Speaker Dock is long overdue.
Packed with twin 10 watt speakers and a bass boost feature, this system easily filled a 20 x 24 room with a rich, crisp sound that covered the bases wall to wall. Music from both my play lists and FM radio was crystal clear. Once I switched on the integrated bass boost feature a much deeper, but not over powering bass poured out. The bass feature is okay but nothing to get excited about. By no means will this speaker dock be confused with a big ticket wall of sound. By design, its mission is to enhance and not overpower a room.

I had read reviews here stating that this speaker doc did not work with my Walkman, Sony Walkman NWZ-S544/S545. Since I had already ordered this item I sent an inquiry to SONY and they replied back to say that this speaker doc would work with my SONY Walkman. I can attest that it DOES work so I am happy.

Given the fact that this appears to be the only option for a Walkman Docking Station, it's definately better than having nothing. However, I think that Sony could have really made this quite a bit better for maybe just a $50 bump in price. On the plus side, it's a snap to set up... literally had it up and running in about 1 minute with my X-series touch-screen Walkman. Asthetically, I have no complaints either... all black and pretty sleek looking.
The only real potential issue with this unit (other than if you're not smart enough to check compatibility before purchasing) is the sound quality. The reason I use the "potential" qualifier is this... if you're an audiophile type who can only be satisfied with high-end speaker systems, you will absolutely NOT accept the sound quality of this unit. If you're mainly looking for functionality and affordability, and don't necessarily need the best sound quality, this unit will likely be a good fit for you.
