Summary: No complaints. 2008-11-06
Comment: This was my very first MP3 player, purchased because I naively thought that I had no practical use for a device with a larger storage capacity. ("Why would I possibly need to have something that holds over 2,000 songs?") But I loved the small size and the fact that it resembled a disposable lighter; it's just cute. I had no issues with the accompanying software, and I've recently graduated up to a 8GB Sony MP3 player. For those of us who need a little prodding to embrace all this fun and fabulous technology, I'd recommend it. But be warned - chances are you'll get hooked and soon be looking for a larger capacity player. ;-)

Comment: I have been using this player for over a year now. If you wanna have a music player, just go with it cuz it sounds just great... I love its user friendly customization on equalization. All you probably would need a better headphone and you are set. Try to get a headphone that supports 10hz to 23khz.
Its provided software for transferring mp3 files, is bit hard to understand for a first time user.. if you spend a little time, you could do it.
I am still happy with this player as I charge it once a week & it just goes on and on.

Comment: This is simply the best walkman ever made. It has excellent battery life. It feature 3 min - 3 hour quick charging ability. Sound quality if better than IPod. It is very ergonomic. It works best for runnings, there simply is not better player.

Summary: FM Tuner Reception horrible, not worth the money. 2008-04-30
Comment: I received this atrac player as a Christmas gift back in 2006. The structure of it is nice, and I have all my favorite music on it. But I wanted to inform the buyer about the radio capability. The reception on the FM Tuner is just terrible, with some stations you can't even pick up or to the radio station not coming in clear. In my hometown for a longwhile I've had to listen to only one radio station I actually liked because my other favorite stations either didnt come in clear or the ATRAC player couldn't read the station number. If you are planning to purchase a portable radio either for exercising to riding the bus around town, I strongly do not encourage you to purchase this device. You will not be able to hear whatever station you're in the mood for because the reception of your favorite radio station will have a chance of not working. Even the stations that do work on this ATRAC Player constant fading can occur even on the strongest stations in your local area. I would recommend you try purchasing another brand such as a Sansdisk etc, and try to see if the portable radio you wish to buy has a DX option (it allows your antenna to see the transmitter as if it were closer. Not being able to listen to all the FM stations while you're in the coverage area really describes the low quality of this product, Now on the positive side, its good to put music on it, and downloading music is easy. If you don't care for the radio, than this product is right for you.

Comment: I purchased this unit a few years ago and have been using it ever since. I'm surprised Sony hasn't updated their software given all these bad reviews, but I'd like to mention my solution.....

This software lets you put mp3's on the unit easily in ANY operating system. Best of all the 'software' to do it is stored on the unit itself! Just plug the unit into ANY computer and run the software right off of it. Very easy and painless. I put my MP3's on it but it can handle other formats.
You may need your 14yr old to get it setup, but after that it you'll be up and running in no time. Amazing battery life and quickly charges in a few minutes off the USB.
I'm buying one currently for my sister I love mine so much!
