It has served me well so far. It took some practice to be able to manipulate the tiny touch-screen controls. Sometimes you want to scroll and you end up pausing or muting because the controls are too close together. The FM is good, the text capabilities are amazing for a small equipment. I was able to read some of my letters saved on it while commuting. I simply noted what needed to be corrected, hooked the S3 to my computer and did the correction when I got to the office. Lows: The cable is too samsung specific. The controls are spaced too close.The headset is too cheap-get a better one. The video viewing is horizontal(you have to turn the S3 90 degrees) Highs: Slick instrument. Once you get a hang of it, you will love the operations Text reading and saving is cool The video is good. This review is from: Samsung YP-S3JCB 8GB Multimedia Player (Electronics) The package reminds that of iPod. The player is solid, glossy. Controls are fancy but a little bit too small. Sound quality is good, when you have wmp10 or higher version installed on your PC this player can be managed just as a USB flash drive, you don't need any special software (still you need this special samsung cable, that's a minus. I'd rather use usual miniUSB). And there's FM tuner with the recorder! I still haven't compared txt capabilities of my ipod nano and samsung S3 but sure Samsung is better in this point.
Overall it's a nice alternative to ipod nano - quite small, solid, nice looking. However, by 01/18/09, I was on the phone with Samsung because the battery would not hold charge. I was told to send the item back to the manufacturer for repair and they received the item on 01/27/09, as confirmed by UPS. As of today, March 3, 2009, I am still waiting for an exchange item, since the repair department was unable to full-fill their work within their allotted time. I was lied to by their customer service, that they were waiting for a part, when their system showed that they were waiting for me to return the item (it was delivered by the UPS but never check in the system, it is still showing that status as of today and no one cares to fix it). When I caught them in the act of lying, they offered a replacement unit.
