Summary: WARNING: The external micro-sd is limited to 512 megabytes! 2008-05-18
Comment: Just heads-up: I bought one of these elsewhere and returned it because the TH1101 refuses to recognize an external MicroSD card if it contains more than 512 MB of mp3's. Also, the audio level is low enough that I could barely hear the music at all in a busy office. You can turn it up higher but then the audio drops out on musical peaks. A $10 set of more-sensitive ear buds should fix that. Regular headphones require more power than ear buds for a given music level so this probably isn't a good mp3 player to use with headphones.

Summary: TO EACH HIS OWN 2008-04-28
Comment: This Mp3 is okay for the first 6 months. but i advise you don't press the volume button (or any other button)with too much force because they are very sensitive. i also suggest that when the battery you're using dies, take it out immediately or it will leak and it will no longer be good. it fits up to 180 songs and the sound is very good if you like the music to go so loud that everyone at least 5 feet away can hear it. Its very durable, when it falls on the floor, it doesn't break easily it might scratch but thats about it. The headphones are very nice too. they are pretty loud. But its good enough to work in a year or less.

Summary: Cool 2008-04-17
Comment: I think it's a great product. It's just that I have 6 other siblings that goof off with it. And I will tell you one thing! I bet whoever said it broke too easily took it out of the computer before logging out! You have to do more than just yank it out! If you don't you will get a corrupted file on your device! Mine is always being messed up by other people so it stops working frequently. The headphones ain't the best but I just bought a different pair. I say don't buy a MP3 player unless you live alone. And if you are new to this kind of thing don't mess with it to much like I did.

Overall thoughts: Don't buy if you are in a big family, Take it out right and most of all, READ THE MANUAL!!. If you do that it's a perfect product. (not to mention it's shiny ooooohh aaahhhh :)

Summary: Beware of RCA's mps players...work for only short time! 2008-04-11
Comment: RCA does not stand behind is product! I bought an MP3 that they admit is DEFFECTIVE but they will charge me $62 for a replacement when I paid $59 for it at a local store! And no there products are NOT Vista compatible. They don't have any other alternative drivers or software for vista at this point. But I found a way around that to find out that the Mp3 player itself is deffective. Spent an hour on the phone with customer service and she told me I should send it back but I would have to pay more to replace it than I paid for it new! There customer service also informed me I wasn't the only one with these problems! STAY AWAY FROM RCA!!!! I had a similar thing happen some years ago with an rca VCR!

Summary: Blows iPod Shuffle and Nano out of the water 2008-01-20
Comment: I have the 512MB version of this player and it served me well over the last 9 months. The Micro SD slot basically gives you infinite song capacity and the addition of a recorder is nice for note taking (the quality may not be up to par for podcasting or prosumer production work but maybe it sounded bad because I was holding it while I recorded). My only complaint about this is that I can't seem to find any way to bookmark a part of an mp3 file (like lengthy podcasts) to resume later and it cannot play iTunes music store files (and that's to be expected with any non-Apple player). I still use my 5th gen iPod for the car, but you cannot beat this in a situation where your mp3 player could be damaged or broken. If you need a music player for the gym or blue collar type work, this is a highly affordable and durable device that you can afford to have damaged or broken. The 512MB model only runs for $32. Another strong selling point is you don't need any proprietary software to transfer songs to your player. In other words, throw out the CD that comes with it if you already have a great piece of mp3 playing software. Lastly three words: user replaceable AAA battery. Take that, Apple. I would have bought this for my mother instead of an iPod Shuffle had I known about it. It was less than half the price.
