Summary: RCA Lyra marginal 2006-11-09
Comment: You really can't use it for audio books as it has no bookmark and you have to start the book over each time you " close " the book.
Some of the external SD disks don't work.
Get another one that is more reliable and easier to program.
It turns out to be an expensive fm radio.

Summary: Best compact mp3 player! 2006-03-10
Comment: The menu is quite confusing at first, but as you go along you will get used to it. The sound quality is the best so far plus it has FM radio and an external memory which I prefer than the built in. To my experience, I recommend using sd cards made in Japan for best results [pny or crucial with white cover]. I find Sandisk cards not reliable & trashed 2 of it. It's your decision...

Summary: Major Flaw 2006-01-28
Comment: I bought this unit to take advantage of the external SD Memory slot. I have 4 major issues with this product
1. You can not auto resmue. If the player is turned back on, it does not remember what track you were on, or where in that track you were. This is a huge problem if you listen to audio books or podcasts. This is a big problem because the product claims to have an auto resume feature in its specifications!
2. The interface is terrible. I have found that manuvering through the menus and settings is downright painful. Very poorly laid out.
3. RCA has literally no support whatsoever. Their website does not offer a phone number to call. You are asked to give all of your personal information and someone will e-mail you back. I never got a response at all after several attempts made.
4. The software included for file transfers is very poorly developed and non functional.
I have done a lot of research on MP3 players and everywhere I go I find very disappointed Lyra users. Stay away from Lyra players!

Summary: My opinion of RCA RD 2010 2005-07-25
Comment: I have two other flash card players-- a no-name brand with 256 MB capacity, but no expansion capability, and a Motorola M25 which have an internal expansion SD slot and 256 MB capacity. From a sound comparison standpoint, they all do a decent job here. But I thought the RD 2010 sound slightly better due to the headphone. Also I like the clip behind the ear headphone. I just don't like the earbuds that the many other units provided. They fall out after a while on me. I like the look and handling of the RD 2010. I can operate the unit with just one hand; while the other two, I always have to use two hands to operated it. I also like the case that come with the unit as well. It comes with a armband to clip the case to. The way the case is designed I can also clip it to my belt on my waist if I like. Also the unit has a swivel head which I can clip on a neck band to carry this way if I want.
I don't particularly like the profiling feature. You have to do this manually, while the Motorola m25 does it automatically for unit everytime you change an SD card. Also I haven't found a way for me to store info at the song I was at when I turn off the unit. I have to scroll to the song I was last at every time I turn the unit back on. there is a little more hiss when the FM signal is a little weak. But sounds great when signal is strong. Other than that, I am quite happy with the unit, especially the long battery life.
