Product Review
Notably compact yet loaded with features for the discriminating music fan, the RCA Lyra pocket MP3 player keeps the music pumping whether you're at the gym, on the bus, or walking the dog. The device measures 2.24 by 2 by 0.82 inches (W x H x D), a handy size that fits easily in a jacket pocket or purse, yet stores up to four hours of mp3-Pro encoded music on its 128 MB of built-in flash memory. Even better, listeners can enjoy additional tunes by loading them onto SD or MMC memory cards and inserting them in the Lyra's external card slot. Thanks to the multiple memory options, the number of MP3, mp3-Pro, and WMA tunes you can access is limited to the number of SD or MMC memory cards you own.
To assist the listener in identifying songs, the Lyra includes a multifunction two-line LCD screen that displays the artist name, song, elapsed time, volume level, and battery level when in playback mode. The audio performance, meanwhile, is enhanced by the five DSP modes (flat, bass, pop, rock, and jazz), which let you customize the sound based on the genre and your personal preferences. Additional features include a hold function, a skip-free memory, an MP3 equalizer, and six playback modes.
To download songs from your PC to the Lyra, merely connect the device via its USB port (cable included). The Lyra supports multiple operating systems, including Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP, along with Mac3 drag-and-drop. It also comes with music management software on CD-ROM, making it simple to keep track of and arrange your MP3 and WMA files.
And though it fits nicely in a pocket, RCA threw in a sports armband for jogging and other active uses. The Lyra also comes with clip-on headphones and a single AAA alkaline battery.
What's in the Box Lyra MP3 player, CD-ROM with music management software, USB cable, carrying case, sports armband, clip-on headphones, one AAA battery, user's manual.

I have owned this MP3 player for about three years and am very satisfied with it. The player can hold 128 megabites worth of songs and you can buy extra memory for the player if you desire. The player is a very durable and high quality product. I have brought this with me on several trips and is I have never had any problems with it tearing up. The headphones are very comfortable and provide a good quality of sound. The player will take Windows Media Audio sound files, so you don't have to convert the files if you are using a Windows machine, just plug it in and transfer the music to the player. The player will also work with Macintosh machines. It will also work with whatever program you are comfortable with, such as Windows Media Player or Musicmatch Jukebox. The player is also designed well and easy to use. It is also a very sleek looking player. It comes with headphones, a USB connector, and software to install Musicmatch, if you don't have a music program already. I...Read more

Excellent Mp3 Player!, January 2, 2006

I've had my Lyra for just about two years now and it has been working flawlessly. I like it's small and compact design and that all the controls can be used with one hand. It has also proven to be very durable, not only have I dropped it multiple times, I have also sent it through the washer and dryer twice, and both times it booted right up and started playing my music.
On average, I store around fifty tracks, about 4 albums, using the Mp3Pro format. The battery life is great for a single AAA, it's saved me from listening to screaming kids on the bus for days at a time on one battery. Overall I highly recommend this Mp3 player, and if it ever does break, I will be ordering the newest in line from RCA.

I got this MP3 player for Christmas 2 years ago and I have not had any problems with it. Its a very compact size so its easy to take anywhere. I only wish that it could hold more music. I can generally fit around 25 songs at a time on it. If your looking for something simple and don't want to spend a lot of cash, this is a good item. I use it all the time for my workouts and its great.
