I wonder how long he has had it? I have had mine for 8+ yrs. and have had no problem. I kinda wish it would go bad so I could justify a new flat screen. But, I cant see why I would want to spend the $ for a new one when this still has a great picture and better sound then ANY new flat screen. I have a surround sound system, but the tv has fine speakers. I love it. This review is from: Pioneer SD532HD5 53-Inch Projection TV (Electronics) I purchased this unit when they first came out several years ago. it has been the rock-solid center of my entertainment system. The only flaw I've seen in the set is the shiny finish on the screen. Light reflections from behind you can be annoying. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Pioneer SD532HD5 53-Inch Projection TV (Electronics) I bought this Pioneer SD532HD5 projection TV several years back. It was an expensive, high end unit and I expected it to last many years. Pioneer is supposedly one of the premiere tv makers, and you pay more for that supposed quality.
Mine is failing. It makes a loud popping noise, then the video shuts off. If you get up and turn the unit off and then back on, it restarts after a few moments. Sometimes it will run for hours, sometimes it will go off 3 times in 30 minutes. I'm going to likely have to replace it, with another brand to be sure. Samsung or Sony this time around. I've done some web searches on the Pioneer projection tvs and this seems to be a common problem with the Pioneer units. Buyer beware. |
