This review is from: Philips SHL9500 Lightweight Premium Headband Headphones (Electronics) I purchased the Philips SHL9500/37 headphones to replace my current set of Sony MDR-A34L Vertical In-the-Ear Headphones. I was interested in over-ear rather than in-ear speakers. I've been using the Philips for two days now and I would say I am satisfied. The sound quality is very similar to the Sony headphones, though slightly better. I listen to my headphones at a relatively low volume (in an office environment), which may play a part in the quality. When I turn up the volume the sound is very rich and full. I am not an expert on headphones, but these do not compare to the headphones in the $150 price range that I have tried - but I'm not sure you can expect them to for less than $20. The folding design is convenient and makes for safer storage/transport when tossed in a bag. They are comfortable enough for longer periods of time. Overall, I plan to use these as my "everyday" headphones, as they do the job when listening to my MP3 player while at...Read more 15 of 17 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Philips SHL9500 Lightweight Premium Headband Headphones (Electronics) I have to compare these to the Sennheiser PX-100s because that is what these Philips are replacing. I need over the ear headphones that are foldable for stowing in a pocket. The Sennheisers were amazing in comfort and sound quality, and - with a little practice - could be stored in their custom hard case fairly quickly. However, I noticed after a few months that I had cord separation at the earpiece. I glued it and was very careful but the other side separated soon after. The reviews for that product showed I wasn't alone. So, I purchased the Philips based on price/specs and first impressions were 1) padded ear pillow not as comfy as the oversize collapsed cell foam disc, and 2) dynamic range not nearly as impressive, especially in the highs. Well, after a little tweak time in the Nano's EQ settings I found a setting that is much better and improves the sound quality to where I am enjoying them very much. Tough luck for Shuffle users however. I then went to an eyeglass center and...Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Philips SHL9500 Lightweight Premium Headband Headphones (Electronics) These are the best quality headphones I have ever owned. The sound is amazing and they put out quite a bit of sound. I love these so much that I bought a back-up pair just in case I damage them some how. Since they are so cheap, I figure why not. I bought some of the very expensive Sennheiser headphones and there is no comparison. The Sennheiser had NO BASS and I am hardly a bass head. These headphones have a full rich dynamic and very clean sound from top to bottom. I seriously cannot express how good these headphones are for under $100. |
