For the record I have an iPod Touch 16G, my lost Nano 8G and I've had two other ipods -- a shuffle and a mini-- both of which died after a year of gentle use.
I planned on getting another Nano to replace my lost one when this caught my eye at Target-- I was reluctant to get it because I'm a Mac guy and had no interest in WMP-- my days of PC headaches are long behind me. But I figured for $40 it was worth taking a risk. I'm so glad I did. I plugged it into my macbook and it showed up on the desktop-- it was a simple matter of dragging and dropping my existing MP3 files in and I was ready to go. Truthfully, I had to go to the Philips website to figure out the ON/OFF button -- it's the slider LOCK on the bottom-- slide and hold it to the right and it powers down after three seconds, repeat for one and its back on. The sound is great and...Read more 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Philips GoGear Raga 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver) (Electronics) I just picked this up yesterday at Target. It's very easy to use. It pretty much comes to you fully charged up, I just plugged in the USB to my computer and was loading music onto this thing within a few minutes. I can't vouch for the Songbird software, I'm not going to use it...that's just not how I load music onto my players. It's the perfect size for holding in your hand or dropping in your pocket, and it does come with the armband if you want to use it that way. It's a chunky little square and I like it. The color is cool as well, a dark graphite gray. The brightness of the display hasn't bothered me at all...I changed mine to red and it seems to be the least bright. The FM radio presets are pretty easy to set up and it does catch a lot of stations. The sound is very good for a cheapy mp3 player, very bassy. I do hate the hook-buds that come w/ it...I have very small ears and the hooks wouldn't even catch them, so I had to cut them off! (the hooks, not my ears!!) The...Read more 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Philips GoGear Raga 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver) (Electronics) I would have given this little thing a five but I will get to that later...
The GoGear Raga is the fastest updating model (Ive done tests on all Gogear models and this was the fastest) It works how I wanted a MP3 player to work...To just play music and play music right. The included software (Songbird) was the best alternative to using Darn iTunes and has more features. It has four gigabytes of memory. It feels nice in the hand and the battery is OK... But what do you get for this little thing? Music and raidio (and voice recording too). And unlike a iPod where everything is unique and uses things like MPEGS and AAC's. Also much cheaper than a iPod. I recommend buying this little MP3 player for the people who are sporty and just want music...Now, the bad part. The bad part about this MP3 player is that it is so bright it can blind you, and you cant change the brightness! This really got me goin. |
