Summary: Very portable, great quality but does not play all common media types 2008-07-30
Comment: I recently acquired one of these for AU$139 (~US$130) and am pretty happy:
Pros.
1. Excellent build quality and very easy to setup
2. Excellent on-screen menu and easy buttons
3. Large variety of outputs including HD from SD sources
4. Composite and Component outputs
5. Easily connects to PC as external drive to transfer files
Cons.
1. Old form factor IDE HDD rather than smaller SATA
2. Cables are none-standard - though all are supplied
3. Power adapter is none-standard but works fine
4. Does not play all common media types eg M-JPEG (digital camera videos) or WMV
Summary.
A great device that does what it says very nicely. Would get 5/5 if the range of supported formats was improved.

Summary: I can't start it :) 2008-07-03
Comment: I have got it from MicroCenter - oficial MVIX retailer.
It is rather new product, and there are no any review about it around.
So, it is very attractive box with retractable plastic handle, and I opened it ... First of all, I noticed that there are sticker on the plastic wrap around player: "Please install new firmware, if You are using WesternDigital HDD", huh, that's cool, because I prepared WD Scorpio for that enclosure. The second fact was - euro-power plug with round contacts. Instruction does not describe how to install HDD inside. When HDD is installed - the cower does not fit closely, and it always tying to fall down. I have three 2.5" HDD's : hitachi, toshiba and wd. All those are exelent in other enclosures, in my laptop ... but that player rejected to see it. No support on phone ... No info on internet, on manufacturer site ...
I spend whole day to make it working and returned to store.
Bottom line - stay away.
