3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Microsoft Expression Media (CD-ROM) This is the ultimate product for storing, managing, viewing and even editing your digital pictures and also other media. Pictures can easily be organized in hierarchial catalog sets. html picture galleries for web publishing can be created wirthout problems as well as xml-files. The program works with thumbnails, not with the original files which obviously makes the catalog files smaller. The original files are easily accessible. On the negative side some functions are less than intuitive to use and tagging can be a chore. But when it is done the excellent search function makes it well worth the trouble. The prize, around $ 300, is excessive, though. Expression Web Designer sells for around $ 90, a contrast which is difficult to understand. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Ron Greer (Seattle, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Microsoft Expression Media (CD-ROM) My review is really for Iview, which became Expression Media after Microsoft bought it. That's why it's so good, Microsoft had nothing to do with its design! Now let's hope they don't ruin it.
This is a great product for storing, managing (annotating), and retrieving your images. Yes there is Aperture and Lightroom but I feel Iview is far easier and quicker to use. The above products offer too much, making them both quite slow and complicated compared to Iview. Once I have images ready (organized and annotated) I then open them in photoshop to adjust and convert them. It works just fine. 2207 update: Well, now that Microsoft bought Iview the show is over. They no longer provide RAW updates. So, I've switched to Adobe Lightroom, which is actually much better anyway. |
