Can't be used when recharging. Automatically dims and turns off the LCD display when playing long videos. doesn't have a "keep on" function I've found so far. Scratches very easy. Requires syncing with Windows Media Player to have files work. You can copy them directly onto it but then you get a license error message. Buttons are a little strange, I don't think it's a matter of pushing them hard enough as it is waiting for it to respond. Battery is built in and non-removable without taking it apart. My biggest gripe is you have to transcode any sort of video file to get it to work, which took me a few steps to figure out. The software enclosed with it is not very impressive but works. Flat sound, strong mid-range but no bass to speak of...Read more 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By Rasputin (Mother Russia) - See all my reviews This review is from: Memorex MMP9008 8GB USB 2.0 MP4/MP3/ FM/Voice w/2.4" LCD (Black) (Electronics) I bought this MP3 player at Target around the end of July 2009. It was ~$100. I thought it would be okay. I liked it's clean look because I was entertaining attaching velcro or something to it so that it could be stuck on an automobile's dash. The automobile is a 2009 with a high quality stereo. I've decided not to affix things to the dash because that's tacky. BUT, I can't believe how bad this device is. It's mind blowing.
Now, I came to hate this device in the course of two weeks. The underside's plastic's finish was scratched by sliding it across my desk slightly immediately. The buttons on the unit are too hard to press and don't always work. The sliding power button is too hard to use, you have to use a fingernail. You have to hold the power button in whatever position for over two seconds. The device takes over twenty seconds to turn on/off. The device will not work when the battery is low, even if it's plugged in and charging. If the battery runs out...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Memorex MMP9008 8GB USB 2.0 MP4/MP3/ FM/Voice w/2.4" LCD (Black) (Electronics) Do yourself a favor and steer well clear of this piece of junk. I purchased this player and it never worked. Didn't work out of the box. Downloaded and installed firmware, still doesn't work. All recommendations from the Memorex website to fix it do not work. Pressing the reset button on the back doesn't work. My computer won't even recognize it when I connect via the USB cable. Emails to Memorex customer service go unanswered. Horrible customer support from Memorex. Just look at the instructions for installing the firmware for the MMP9008 on the Memorex website. They tell you to open the device manager and then don't even tell you why or what for. Complete nonsense. Here's what I have gathered otherwise about the quality of this device. ON/OFF button can be tricky to operate. Buttons feel cheap and hard to press. The device cannot be used while it's being charged. How stupid is that? |
