Memorex MMP8590BLK 2GB Digital Media Player - Black

I used this for a month - exclusively the FM tuner. It worked great - preset stations, holding a charge, good reception, volume control, armband during workout. Then one day the headphone jack went bad. I could jiggle the plug to get sound out, but that was all. Tried new headphones and had the same problem. Did not meet my expectations.

This posting is to keep a promise to the Memorex Customer Service Represenative I delt with that I would post my awful experience every place I could on the Web.

I bought an Memorex MMP8565 and had it just up an die and not power up for no obvious reason.

It would come back to life a few hours later, maybe but then die..some kind of intermittent or firmware glitch.

Still under Warranty, but had the worst experience I have had in sometime with Memorex Customer Service. Had no suggestions and said what was taking place couldn't and then said send unit and more money for Shipping and Handling.

I said I would consider if they would replace the unit. Couldn't guarantee that even though I told them it was an intermittent problem.

So spend more money and maybe get the same flaky piece of junk back if it chose that period to work for their tech.

First off, the unit lasted 8 months. After 4 months, the display went dim. It was almost impossible to see it outdoors in the daytime. Then 4 months later-no display at all. And the built in rechargable battery makes it more of a hassle than what it's worth. With the old MP3 player, I had 4 rechargable aaa batteries. When one went dead, just pop in another and you're good to go. But with this one, you're out of luck until you can get to a USB jack and charge it. So that meant I had to carry the other player with me so I could listen to music when the battery went dead on this one. The FM radio reception is poor, but every MP3 I've had was like that. So I won't hold that against it. And no AM, so no ball games or talk radio. If I could find a high quality AM/FM cassette walkman, I'd get it and be done with MP3 players.
