Enjoy video content stored on your iPod - personal music library, digital pictures, and home videos on the iFlip's 8.4" widescreen display, large enough for everyone to see. It also charges your iPod and has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to 5 hours of video playback. Compatible with iPod Video (5th generation).

Amazon.com Product Review

The iFlip may look like a mini laptop, but underneath the lid sits a whole new world of video possibilities. Open the iFlip's cover and you'll see a universal dock on the bottom that holds and charges select iPods, along with an 8.4-inch widescreen LCD display for video playback. The screen is ideal for watching stored iPod movies on planes or entertaining the kids on long car trips, plus it offers an easy way to share your favorite digital photos with friends without hooking up to a full-size TV. Add in an intuitive onscreen menu system and a host of connectivity options and you have the perfect portable video player for almost all on-the-go applications.

The video screen is crisp and versatile, with such features as a selectable aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3), a 480 x 234 native resolution in RGB mode, a 300 cd/m2 brightness rating, and a 350:1 contrast ratio. In addition, the 75-degree horizontal viewing angle and 70- degree vertical viewing angle lets fellow passengers see the screen without straining their necks. And don't worry about the iFlip running out of juice on the first leg of your cross-country trip, as the integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers roughly five hours of video playback per charge. To renew the battery, simply plug in the AC adapter and you'll recharge both the iFlip and iPod simultaneously.

Finally, the iFlip isn't restricted to iPod use only, as it connects to other video devices via the S-video output and line-in jacks. Other details include dual headphone jacks for people who travel in pairs and adjustable brightness, color, hue, and contrast controls. The iFlip--which is compatible with the iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod video (5G), iPod photo (regular and U2 model), iPod 4G with click wheel (regular and U2 model), and iPod mini--measures 8.7 by 1.8 by 6.7 inches (W x H x D) when closed and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

What's in the Box
iFlip video system, iPod adapters, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, S-video cable, line out cable, AC adapter, warranty card, user's manual.

3.0 out of 5 stars Watch for dead pixels and Tiger Direct!..., November 3, 2006

The unit is not bad for its ability to charge the ipod while on DC and for its decent and very customizable IQ with videos. The photos don't look good on its LCD screen at all due to blowing out of highlights and distortion of color. The audio is OK, but not great and there is a picking up of the drive's whine and noise that most of the time gets through the speakers at the highest volume settings you will need. I used the Ipod 80GIG video and it fit in the iFlip OK with the 60GIG bracket that came with the iFlip.

As for Tiger Direct, I had to call 5 times to arange for the return and full refund with a call tag due to a bad pixel on the screen! Every time someone said a different thing and 2 people promised me to issue call tags for return. Both did nothing. On the fifth call I got lucky and spoke with a nice guy who has just assured me that he will issue a call tag and gave me his extension number for future reference. So... they do have some good people working for them,...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product but NOT with the new iPod Classic, October 9, 2007

I have loved my memorex iflip and have happily used it for over a year with my 5th generation 80GB. It has great sound, pretty good picture, consistent quality video, and a great battery life. I've been very happy with it and use it daily.

However, I just bought the new iPod classic 160GB. And found, when you dock the new iPod Classic, the iflip gets an error message (saying that TV out is selected, connect a video device). The problem is, that the iPod is connected to a video device (THE IFLIP) This is apparently a pretty common problem because Apple has kindly put a notice about the error message on their site, but indicates the fix is to connect a 30 pin AV connector to the ipod. Something that isn't possible with the Memorex because the built in dock IS the connection. So, now I have a great new ipod, and a great old iflip and a bunch of itunes videos I can't watch.

I'm afraid to buy another ipod video becuase of concerns over getting the same error...Read more

As of this writing, there really are not that many choices for a portable video system for the iPod. We chose this one because of the larger screen mostly. At least in the store, the demo video looked better. That is about all that I will say is good about it.

The problems are in the design. Obviously people who did not think too much when designing it. When playing music for example, a graphical letter "M" is displayed on the screen. It does not even move. Therefore, screen burn is a problem if you choose to play a lot of music with this.

When playing video via the S-Video cable connected to your TV, you cannot turn off the screen in order to save battery life. Even if you close the lid, both when using S-Video and playing music, it is still displaying as there is no video screen cut-off switch when the lid is closed.

The quality of using S-Video to the TV is sub-par. The picture has periodic interference like the cable was poorly connected or on top...Read more
