I've experienced some really, really poor portable speakers for iPods over the past few years -- many that simply plug into the headphone jack and deliver a thin, tinny sound experience that distorts after one or two plays at mid-volume. These portable speakers from Memorex are not in that league and actually delivery surprsingly good sound.
Memorex has done a really good job with creating a product that actually delivers what I'd consider really good sound from a small portable unit. Audiophiles will certainly disagree with me as to what constitutes "really good," but we're talking about sound for an mp3 player. Is it Bose quality? No, but you're not paying a Bose price.
What's in the box: Three separate sets of instructions in English, French, and Spanish, along with a multi-lingual quick start guide; the speakers; a dock adaptor (I presume to fit a Mini or Nano); and an AC adapter.
When closed the speakers look like a black hard shell case for...Read more

There is not much to say about this. It is really very good. The sound is great, it does not sound cheap or tinny. There is a big note that this only plays with third generation iphones/ipods or earlier. Do not expect your iphone 4 to fit in it.
I think this is nice for travel if you don't want to take a little radio because of course, you can listen to all your playlists. This is slightly big, of course it's bigger than your actual ipod, but it's still worth it to me to take for travel. You can put it in your purse actually.
The only con was that when I put my ipod Classic in, it seemed to tilt it back as if my ipod was too heavy, so it didn't lay flat. It is not a big deal but just something I noted.
Overall ,it is works fine and sounds great. If you have somewhere out of the way to set it, it will be great for an area where you don't have a computer and you want to listen to your itunes playlists, just pop in your ipod and you're good. Very nice.

When this works it is a genuine winner. However, I found a great deal of difficulty in getting the speakers to function.
In fact, I gave up on ever being able to use them except by plugging in a stereo jack.
Therefore, based on my experience, this is a failed product.
