My review unit arrived today and I quickly ran it through its paces with my iPhone 4. My iPhone is in a thicker case, but fit fine by not using one of the dock adapters, but adjusting the backrest knob to support it fully. The phone (or iPod) charges when the TagAlong is plugged into a wall outlet with the provided power adapter. I should emphasize that this does indeed provide adequate power for charging an iPhone 4 ... since some docks do not (and you get an error message on your iPhone saying so).
I'm in a rural area, but received FM stations just fine without plugging in the provided antenna. (I'm surprised that the manufacturer did not just use the hollow handle to house an internal antenna and avoid the need for an external one.) The FM scan function worked well, and I liked the fact that I could memorize three stations on the preset buttons.
When in FM mode, the frequency is conveniently displayed in large digits on the front LCD panel...Read more

This is a handy little portable that does exactly as advertised. For the mid-price, the sound is OKAY, frankly, if you want great sound, save up the several hundred dollars and buy a Bose. What you get here is something akin to a table radio with a spot for your I-Pod. I have an I-pod classic and a Nano (2009 model) and they both get into the dock easily. The volume is adjustable; despite the other reviews here, I am having no sound/volume problems. So far, I have used this as a desk player and at an event where I just wanted some music as I sat around with people passing by. The Tag-along is VERY lightweight, making it easy to cart around. Overall, a satisfactory music maker if you don't get your expectations too high.

MI 2601 Once again you get what you pay for- discrepancies also.
I hope that you can learn something from this review, as I will try to compare the entire spectrum of portable Ipod/mp3 players (amplifiers really as you still need a source player if you want anything other than a FM radio). Checking current prices here is what I compare: Memorex MI2032, relative cost 1, Memorex 2601 (this one) relative cost 2.5, Philips Revolution, relative cost 5-7x, and the Altec Mix IMT800, relative cost 9x. I have to do this relative cost as Amazon does not appear to allow posting actual costs.
Now for the review. The MI2601 is an attractive unit about twice as tall as a Touch and three times as wide, about 4" deep. There are insertable bases and a neat adjustable knob in the middle that allows you to make sure that the Ipod of your choice is firmly held. I had no problem inserting a Touch with a silicone protective case on it. The batteries are a disappointment, it takes...Read more
