If you use Internet radio with either the Iphone or the Ipod Touch you will find that the battery goes down faster than normal due to constant WiFi access. With this portable dock, there is no battery usage as it contains a charger circuitry built in. And it works with the Touch secong gen, 2G. A AC charger alone will set you back 20$+.

It comes with a wireless remote. It is only good to about 10ft, the pickup is under the speaker screen which reduces the range. Note that the functions are geared only to the native Ipod music player. IE if you use any internet radio like Pandora, hitting next track will kick you back to your music library and the next song. Same for pause and play. The volume up and down function just fine as they control the dock and not the Ipod.

The sound is okay. I'm not an audio-snob but even I kind of feel like this isn't the best. I think it's going to be fine at low volumes which thankfully is how I plan to use this (on my desk at work).

Here's my major complaint:
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY iPod TOUCH FOR CHARGING.

The product description explicitly states "charges all iPod devices with docking capability." Not the case. & that was part of my criteria when choosing a dock. My ipod Touch docks and plays fine but once connected, my iPod informs me that "charging is not supported with this accesory" :(

For the money, not a bad product. The sound quality isn't bad at lower volumes -- not great at higher volumes. It's compact enough to sit on a corner of your desk and enables you to watch podcasts and videos on your ipod. Another bonus is that it charges.
