Summary: Promises, promises 2005-11-21
Comment: Voice-recording through the built-in microphone is pretty good, the main reason, why I bought (and still keep) this device. Choice of three different wave formats and mp3.
Line-in recording disappointing - direct mp3 encoding only at 96 kbit/s, which is not good enough for music, in addition frequent drop-outs.
Radio reception ok, direct recording from built-in radio possible, limitations as above.
Biggest flop: adding external memory by inserting SD or MMC memory card. Direct recording from the device onto these cards did not work at all. Even from a PC through USB connection, no files could be saved to the SD card (irrespective of LOCK setting), only to a MMC card.
For SD cards the device works only as a card-reader.
Several requests for support/explanation on this matter to the seller (jmtek) and to the manufacturer remained unanswered.
My advice: After similar disappointments with other mp3 flash players, always check in advance, if only possible, whether the device is really doing what the seller promises.
