We bought these for our Teenager to go with her Sansa player to try to save her ears a bit and allow her to charge the player without using the computer. First they didn't work and I emailed the company and found out it was simply a firmware update that was needed on the player. They responded within 24 hours even over the holidays! Then my daughter came downstairs and asked me to "listen". I asked her if she'd plugged her player into her stereo she said "No it is the speakers". The "mood lighting" is neat too.

In reading the one and two star reviews, I am at a loss to understand what people honestly expected from this speaker system.

Do you not read the specs before ordering? Or look at the size of the speakers?

Bottom line, these speakers put out a reasonable level of a reasonable quality of sound. If you are looking for "hi-fidelity" then these speakers are not for you. If you want the convenience of being able to listen to your Sansa without headphones (by the way, the sound quality is better through your headphones then through the speakers) along with charging your player and are realistic enough to understand that a $30-40 speaker set which is barely bigger than the MP3 player itself is not going to blow you away sound-wise then these speakers are for you!

Speakers worked good after we upgraded the firmware on the Sansa MP3 player per their Support folks. Before that the Icetune docking station would only charge the player, no sound.
