This review is from: iriver T60 1 GB MP3 Player (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this mp3 player just to see if really iriver is the best brand in digital audio players for the sound quality.i recenly used Creative,Cowon,Apple but they didn't satisfied me for the sound quality issues. So i wanted to find out wht iRiver is so popular?
When you play the music with the default eq you get a standart sound. But when you set the EQ to SRS WOW HD,and calibrate the options FOCUS,TRUBASS,WOW,DEFINITON you get an amazing Clear, powerfull sound from what i listened till now.Of cource with a quality earphone.
But when it comes to battery life T60 is not so strong, finished the AAA battery quicker than 8 hours.
Also i can't understand why the LCD Screen is so small,at least 128x128 would be very nice for this device. The letters are also very small and it is hard to read.T60 has a 5 way joistik controller which is good but not so fast to navigate through folders and playlists as ipod nano.
i had problems with the software iriver plus...Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: iriver T60 1 GB MP3 Player (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased the original iFP-100 series (iFP-190T) in October of 2003 as a gift, then a refresh version of iFP-795T in November of 2004 for myself. I still have the iFP-795T and it still works, even after fair amount of abuse. Its switching regulator occasionally acts up, so I decided to pick up a new one in case it dies, so I bought a T60 1GB version.
I spent less than 1/3 of what I spent to get the 795 in 2004, but in the end, I think I actually got 1/3 of the hardware, too. Screen is terrible, and can't be read without the backlight on. 795's screen is not color (who cares!), but is higher resolution and readable without backlight. 795 has line-in, and recording quality can be controlled more finely, with Automatic Gain Control for voice recording as well. I loved 795's voice recording with AGC. Joystick control is worse than it is on 795, too, and it has never been its strong point either.
The new T60 came with the latest firmware (1.3), which hasn't...Read more
Good sound, lousy controls that break easily,

iRiver's little AAA powered MP3 players always deliver amazing sound but the T60 is no different from the previous versions in the series: confusing operation and the joystick breaks. My T60's joystick control broke after less than a year of use. And as of July 3, 2009 someone on the market place is selling a 1 gb model for $200. $200? Seriously? This item is worth $50 tops.
