Summary: Good first Mp3 2007-10-16
Comment: Bought this Mp3 and used it consistantly for over a year. The menu's are confusing at times, but overall a good purchase. Fast and friendly shipping too!

Summary: Great Recorder! 2007-02-20
Comment: I have had this player for some months now and am totally delighted! I take it to class and record my lectures (it has options for sound distance) and I have recorded my old LP's and cassette tapes so I dont have to buy my favorites all over again in another format. I have even recorded songs from my TV(grammy awards); basically anything with a plug in jack is recordable. Uploading to the computer is a snap and converts automatically into Itunes which is my default player. I couldnt be happier for the price and all the features this little machine has. Take some time to read the manual and you'll be surprised at all the things it can do! I have recommended it to all my friends and they are amazed! I have no affiliation with this company, just a satisfied consumer in a world where you hardly ever get what you pay for.

Summary: Serious audio; hard to find details 2007-01-09
Comment: If you're 16 years old you'll want an mp3 player with more memory. If you need an audio device to capture an hour or two of audio through a line input you'll be hard-pressed to find one that works this well.
I film weddings and need to capture the output from the venue's sound system so you can hear the ceremony, vows and all, in digital clarity. Most mp3 players include a microphone about the size of a small insect mostly as a throwaway feature. The iRiver iFP series includes a line input so plugging into the output of a sound board is a piece of cake (with punch). The downloadable software and the included USB cable make it as easy to get to the audio files as using a flash drive, just drag and drop.
I specifically bought the smaller capacity player (128 Mb used to be big, now it's miniscule) so my son wouldn't be tempted to "borrow" it. It does exactly what I needed it to do and isn't too complicated for a geezer to learn.

Summary: no ipod, but that's not why I bought it 2007-01-06
Comment: I bought this mp3 player for it's ability to record audio through a external microphone jack. I works fine for that purpose. As an mp3 player it down right sucks. The menus are confusing, and the little control thumb stick is hard to use. But it has features that other mp3 players don't, so I'm happy with my purchase.

Summary: Headphone Jack Didn't Work Properly 2006-12-18
Comment: Because I have an IPOD I didn't buy the iFP 780T to listen to MP3s - instead, I bought it to record notes to myself using the voice recorder, and I bought it to record my LPs and then move them to my computer. So, I gave it a go and I hooked the unit up to my mixer and I taped 30 minutes of songs from my records. Then I plugged the headphones into the iFP 780T to liten to what I recorded and sound only came out of one ear. If I plug the headphones in only part of the way it sounds fine (but of course it falls out). I even tried another set of headphones - and got the same results. So, the headphone jack in the unit is faulty and I'm going to have to return it.
But, I plugged the unit into my computer and transferred the songs I recorded to my computer and they sound fine on my computer. So that works fine.
I'll update this review once I see how iRiver's customer support responds to my faulty unit.
