Summary: we had to cut the speaker wire! 2004-05-29
Comment: The Pixter itself is a fantastic toy. My youngest daughter is 4 and has Autism, we bought this for her to discourage her from drawing on the walls. It definately worked. There is a lot of neat features and extra cartridges you can purchase for it. For all intents and purposes the toy is a great buy if you can get it on sale.My only problem with it is while the volume can be controlled the speaker "blew" within 3 months of having this and when the sound is turned on it makes a REALLY loud and awful sound in the main menu when the song is playing. We had to open up the case and cut the wire because she wouldnt keep the volume off anf it was that awful. Be aware that this toy is not very durable.

Summary: Triplets LOVE Pixter 2.0 2004-04-12
Comment: My triplets granddaughters used Etch-a-Sketch to oblivion and my daughter said they would like Pixter. So I bought 3 of them (with cases) and had Amazon send them to the girls. Well I got a call back from these 6-year olds - they loved the Pixters and they use them every day. One of them is investigating advanced features already. They use these when they travel - it goes in the car and it has held up great - they have had it since beginning of March. My granddaughters would highly recommend Pixter. I don't know why they are on clearance but snap them up.

Summary: Not all positive 2004-04-05
Comment: I purchased one of these for my son after reading all of the positive reviews. Well, I really don't think this deserves all the high marks it receives. The number one problem with this is that it is not backlit and that makes it difficult to use unless under a very bright light. Second, it seems marketed for a young audience but is perhaps too complicated for the recommended 4 year old age. Perhaps 5 or 6 if your child is advanced with electronic toys. I also found the games to be more than somewhat lacking. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Summary: Way to go Pixter 2003-07-28
Comment: I bought this for my three year old son. I wanted an entertaining toy for a trip we were taking. I could not find the volume adjuster and was worried about how annoyed the other people on the plane would be with the noise from the toy. The volume CAN be turned off... THANK GOODNESS. It is a great toy. My son loves it. He loves the music(very pleasant). I think it is very educational. I bought the software in which he can practice writing the letters of the alphabet. It keeps him occupied for hours (great for plane rides). I can not rate it for durability because we have only had it for a week. Definitely a must to have.
