Summary: DON'T BUY CREATIVE! 2008-10-31
Comment: The first mp3 player I bought was by Sony and it has worked pretty well, but since I didn't care for the design or the menu, I thought I'd buy a different brand this time around. The Stone really appealed because of its price, looks, and features. So I spent a lot of time reading reviews and despite the number of people that said theirs randomly stopped working, I still ending up ordering a Stone because of the price.
WHAT A MISTAKE! I started using the Stone right away and everything was going well. I laughed at myself for worrying. THE VERY NEXT DAY, my FULLY CHARGED Stone WOULD NOT TURN ON! I couldn't use the recovery tool that I downloaded from Creative either because when I connected the Stone, it wouldn't show up on the computer. MY STONE WAS DEAD WITHIN TWO DAYS OF USE!
So, there goes fifty bucks. (I bought the 2GB plus with speaker.)
Other reasons not to buy the Stone:
It is ridiculously hard to turn on and off and you have to press for way too long. The middle button isn't big enough or something. Whenever I try to turn it off, I end up turning up the volume super loud instead.
When you reach the end of a list, it doesn't go back up to the first one.
You can't choose individual songs in a folder.
Changing the mode it's playing (in one folder, on repeat, shuffle, etc.) takes way too long. I have to press the middle button, right towards options, down to play mode, and then up and down.
You can't browse music and listen to music at the same time. So let's say I want to go from my Carnival Ride folder to my Some Hearts folder. Well, as soon as I switch over to Some Hearts, Flat On the Floor is cut off because Wasted interrupts it and starts playing.
The clock doesn't work. When you connect the stone to your computer, it asks if you want to sync the time to your computer time and I said yes. Like an hour later, I checked the clock on the Stone and it reset. O_o Before my Stone died, I had synced it twice and both times this happened.
I think I've made my point. THE STONE IS A BAD BUY! So don't buy it.

Summary: Good but not perfect 2008-09-10
Comment: Product's pretty good. Got what I wanted & what I paid for. Only annoyance is the shuffle logic is ridiculous. Every time the player is switched to shuffle mode, it plays almost a fixed sequence of songs. Otherwise, everything else is quite good.

Summary: Disappointed 2008-06-10
Comment: I was so excited with i got my Creative Zen Stone. Yes the charge life was horrible, but that was not much of a concern for me. I liked the fact that it was small and perfect for working out. Overall i thought it was a neat little gadget until it suddenly stopped working after 2 months. I attempted to turn it on one afternoon and the creative logo appeared on the screen and wouldn't go away. I could not access my music and the device would not turn off . I'm highly disappointed...i expected more from this company.

Comment: It's a great little mp3 player. It's basically a shuffle. You can make folders but that uses up more space so it's basically organization vs. amount of music. Plus definitely get a little case for it because mine got scratched up pretty quickly and I was very careful. I guess because it's such a small screen one or two little nicks are very annoying.
You can choose language, sound settings (according to genre and there's a custom setting), there's fmradio with tons of presets. It's definitely worth sixty bucks! I recommend it.

Summary: Creative Zen review 2008-04-28
Comment: I was enjoying the player immensely when after only 7 weeks it just stopped working. Since it was past 30 days i could not return it via amazon.com and had to call Creative directly. Their customer service staff were insulting. I explained what was wrong and told I needed to "troubleshoot" over the phone. When I said to Arnold, the rep, "there is an on/off switch, when I press it nothing happens, what exactly do you think we can troubleshoot?" his response was, that perhaps I wasn't charging the unit correctly. Now if it had only been 2 or 3 days I would have seen the logic in this, but after 7 weeks this was a ridiculous suggestion. I was then directed to a web site to request RNA. The website did not work. I searched the entire Creative web site and found only one place were a text email could be sent. After sending email to this link, I was finally provided an RNA and am still waiting to receive the player back. I would most definitely not recommend this or any Creative product.
