These earphones have not received much attention in the US and it's hard to find them or reviews about them, but they have been promoted on the COWON website as the perfect fit for their popular mp3 player, the J3. I recently bought the J3, which I love, and when I saw that Amazon had a few of these earphones left, I decided to try a pair. For the price, how could I lose?
I used to be skeptical of claims that some electronic audio items need a "break in" period to perform optimally, but lately I have seen this to sometimes be the case. The CE1 is in that category. The ads promise a deep bass, but when I first hooked them up, the bass seemed almost nonexistent. I was disappointed--another dud set of cans! The higher end was impressive, flutes sounded airy and old recordings showed their real age with tape hiss. With use, however, the bass improved.
