Let's get at it.
Cons
-The symmetry of the buttons make it impossible to tell if you're hitting the power vs. shuffle button or the volume vs track skip button.
-The stated 11 hour battery life, while already short by today's standards, is actually much shorter than stated. Several times I've used the fully charged player for only 1-2 hours, then left it (turned off) overnight only to find the battery is completely dead.
-I'm completely fine without a screen, but when Apple has voice display for track titles to help keep track of where you are, it makes me wonder why this player doesn't at least match that feature.
-The lack of being able to play playlists is ridiculous given this is a screenless player. There should be someway to organize your 2-4GB of music. NOTE: Many reviews mention the lack of skipping by folder - this has been addressed via a firmware update. This helps with navigation a bit if you take the time to make folders for the player...Read more

I wanted a small player for work and have had a couple Cowon's before.
Pros- Plays all formats with good sound.High Quality
Cons- Buttons are tiny and on the sides.It's almost impossible to change songs or volume without looking at the player.
Power button is next to the skip button and easy to hit accidentally.
Special round usb plug means I cant use someone else's if I'm not at home to transfer or charge.
Im a big fan of Cowon products but this one is over priced and not thought out very well.

E2 is kind of astonishing,

As our world becomes more spoon-fed we get comments like the ones below about not being able to figure out the buttons...that's analogous to someone saying they can't read a map anymore because their GPS does all the work for them!
Really, people, after you've used the E2 on a regular basis, you'll know which is the left side and which is the right, and what the buttons do. Without looking! The fact that COWON elegantly designed it for simplicity should not be listed as a detriment. Yes, it takes a little time to memorize all FOUR buttons (and 1 of those is ON/OFF) but the payoff in convenience is worth it. And OK, they still could have marked them a little better, but it's ultimately a no-brainer.
To the good stuff:
The sound is ASTONISHING. Audiophiles will go wild for the quality; unfortunately, the COWON ear buds are pretty uncomfortable though they deliver the BEST sound -- I've tried 3 others ranging from basic to expensive and have yet to match...Read more
