I would not recommend that you buy this player for the original list price. I found mine for $5--a great deal for someone like me who doesn't want all the fanciness and frufu that comes with most players. I just wanted to hear my music and have something little to carry. I got this item yesterday, and so far, it is working. There are five simple buttons: Play/pause, forward, backward, + and - for volume. To turn this item on, hold down the Play/pause button (same to turn it off). There is a little light that blinks when music is playing and stays steady when music is not playing. This player is run on battery power (AAA) and cannot be charged through the computer. It plugs right into the computer to get music and also comes with a cord that can also be used. No screen at all, and the music plays in the order you load it onto the player. Is advertised to hold 240 songs.
For a cheap price, this is a great little player.

Nice and compact, plays my songs perfectly, SIMPLE to use. Sturdy. What more could you want? AND, it uses an AAA sized battery, available everywhere if you should run out of battery power, (you DON'T need to hook it up to your computer, or charging device, which you probably forgot). You can of course use a REchargeable AAA if you'd like, but the alkaline AAA lasts a l o n g time, so you probably won't need to bother. Plays your songs at random, you don't get to pick and choose like on a $300 ipod. Who needs to? Less than $20.00 everywhere.....you can't go wrong.

you can't even see what you're playing. the only way that i know of to shuffle through songs, well, you can't. you just can't. which kind of defeats the purpose of it having 2G of storage. all you can do is skip your songs song by song until you eventually (someday) get to whatever it is you're looking for. it's cheap and small and kinda cool in that it hearkens back to the days of cassette tape walkmen (in that it is so terribly inconvenient) -- but yeah. two gigs, so if you fill it up to full it may taken you, what, an hour to get to the song or even album you want? i just bought it and haven't gotten to what i'm trying to listen to yet in the past twenty minutes of pressing skip song skip song skip song. so maybe use it like an old school cd player w 1 album in it and then it'd be pretty cool i'll admit.
