Coby MP-C883 MP3 Player w/1GB - The player loaded easily from a 2002 Dell with XP via Windows Media Player (as recommended by the manual). I pulled MP3 files from an external hard drive as well as the internal drive and filled the player without any problems.

This player can be hooked up directly to a USB port but includes a short USB extension cord which was convenient for use with a desk top with tough to get at ports. The audio is fine and the provided earbuds are ok, skip forward and backward work as expected.

Im going to try and be reasonable and bring my point across well. Basically once you have your music on and the battery in this player does pretty well. Obviously having no screen is a drawback - but look at the price.

Not how I said once you have your music on. Be prepared for infinite displeasure when loading music on. Roughly half the times I plugged this player into my hard drive, the icon flashed on and off for a while. Then when I clicked into it it said I had to format it (the files already on it had been corrupted and could not be played anymore). Now this happened lots of time. The only way to overcome it was to try and copy files on before It had a chance to freeze, which still failed.

Now what has happened is that the player no longer shows up on my PC. Which means that I cant copy files onto it. Which means I cant listen to music. Bottom line: I no longer have an Mp3 player.

Keep sane, and don't buy this product.

This MP3 player is about as basic as it gets, which was fine for me. I like music but I'm not an audio person - my main priority was to get something cheap and portable, and I literally hear no difference between, say, .WMA and .MP3 sound files. Well, I now have a player that's very portable, well priced, and makes it easy to load and delete music as needed - as others have said, just drag and drop.

Once you figure out how to turn it on (hold play for a few seconds, and note that it starts up paused), you get no features to speak of. No special playback modes, no sound equalizer, no track names or times. Not even a screen, actually, and the only way to shuffle between tracks is one at a time with the forward and backward keys. It'll easily hold 10-15 records' worth of music at a time (if you're okay with WMA format, anyway), but sorting through all the songs can be a bit rough. They're played in the order they were uploaded... most of the time, anyway... Again, this...Read more
