Coby MP837-8G 3 Inch Touchscreen 8GB Video MP3 Player - Black

I searched high and low for a decent and affordable mp3 player. I took a risk on this one since there weren't any other reviews out there for it yet. But I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. I wanted something similar to an ipod without the cost. I wasn't interested in games or connecting to the internet, but really liked the ipod's touch screen & its setup for music and video. If that's all you're interested in, I highly recommend this player.

The manual that comes with the player leaves something to be desired, but the .pdf files on the player are much more detailed. The Coby media manager software is also on the player and works pretty good. I've downloaded hundreds of songs so far & also one video & everything works great. I've noticed there's a slight delay between screens when I change from title to album and back on the player, but that could be because of the number of songs I've got. I have used this player for 2 days now and am experienced in A/V conversion.

First off, several comments.
Pros: 5 Star - Durable Build, Large Bright Screen, Great Sounding Audio, Well Thought-Out Navigation
Pros: 4 Star - Plays AVI Videos Converted using included Coby Media Manager using Xvid video codec, MP3 audio codec.
Plays AVI Videos Encoded With h264 video codec, mp3 audio codec (unsupported by Coby Media Manager)
Plays MP4 Videos Encoded With Xvid video codec, AAC audio codec (standard for MP4) (also unsupported by Coby
Media Manager)
Have not encoded MP4 container with AVC h264 video and MP4a AAC audio... but I downloaded a 480x270 mp4 video
and dragged it to the Video Directory in my player and it played perfect. Great choice for quality vids...

Dude... and Dudettes, this product is soooo awesome! its jus like an ipod touch at a way cheaper price, and dont be fooled by how the menu screen looks, its more better up close and in person. Sound? GREAT, VIDEO? GREAT, RADIO? GREAT PICTURE? GREAT, everything about this is great. The scrolling is so much easier and lighter even than previous coby touches or any other cheaper touchscreen mp3's ive tried (and ive tried a few.) Video and music is so easy to put on there and view. There is a 5, maybe 6 second gap when changing between options, like goin from music back to main menu takes a few seconds kinda annoying.You can view albulm art like on a ipod touch or nano, jus flip it sideways and switches to that position, same goes for video and pictures. The one thing i do not like is when in albulm art form scrolling through the songs, it takes a lil bit more effort to flick threw, it isnt as simple as the ipod in that way.
