I was looking for a cheap mp3 player as a backup when my Sansa Clip+ was on the charger. I ordered this one because of the Linux compatibility, relatively high max volume, and the price was great.
Mine was partly defective, and it's going back to Amazon. I decided on a return rather than a replacement because, at best, it would be an adequate player...no more. The user interface leaves a lot to be desired, it is slow transferring music, and the shuffle is indeed broken like the other reviewers said.
Even at the sale price, it's a marginal deal. Put a few more dollars with it and get a Sandisk Sansa Clip+....they're a class act.

Sound quality seems good for music files 128kbps and higher. Unfortunately, I purchased it to transfer voice files recorded at 32kbps to it and the sound quality is hit or miss. Most of the files recorded at this rate have a buzz to them such that no one would want to listen to them. I have five other mp3 players, two of which are made by Archos, that do not have this problem. Archos does not seem to publish the bitrate range for this device, but their support told me that it should be good for files down to 30kbps.

i bought this little mp3 player,i was indecised but i gave it a try,at first i was impressed, nice packaged, fast shipping, excelent price $ 20 including shipping what a purchase but what a sadness after.i loaded music in it and some pictures it played well all my audio and pictures files but it lasted only two days.suddenly the screen went blank and i could hear my music but lost the controls settings because the screen went blank and could not reach the player menu.i tried many things, charging the battery, turning on and off, nothing worked but the player still was recognized by my computer as a removable drive.finally i got very angry and throwed the media player thru my window.is obvious this product is defective and for that reason the company is giving the *&^***shshsh ___good price shshs___***&&.i ended at my local store and bought another brand mp3 player for twenty dollars more.do yourself a favor, save yourself don't buy this player, buy a better brand if u can. !OH MY GOD !
