Apple's iPhone/iPod charger is a combo USB cable and wall charging unit, such that the cable plugs into a computer's USB port OR into the white cube you see pictured here that's meant to plug directly into a wall outlet. Works great, unless you accidentally pull the USB cord out of the plug adapter and unwittingly leave the plug adapter somewhere outside of your home, like an airport, hotel room, etc. Then you have a bit of a problem, because you can't buy just the wall adapter, you have to buy both the adapter and the cord and Apple wants to charge 28 freaking dollars for the combination.

So here are the alternatives I recommend:

Got this for my iPod, but will work for anything that can be charged via a USB connection on a computer. Does what it is intended to do, charge a USB chargeable device without having to plug it into a computer.

My iPod will not charge at all with it, and my iPhone 4 takes HOURS to charge. DO NOT BUY if you are looking for authentic Apple product.
